It was snowing , but that didn't stop a small crowd of 25 from gathering for the annual business and holiday meeting hosted by Brenda and Barry Reade.
During the business meeting, Frances Tidd gave the treasurers report and presented the budget for 2008. Dave Bennett went over plans for the club layout for SELSTS 2008 to be held in Perry on February 15-16, and Barry Reade and Frances went over the banquet plans. Barry reviewed the calendar of meetings for 2008 and announced that we were already scheduling meetings for 2009. Richard Garlinghouse reported that the GGRS would have to guarantee $150,000 or more to reserve facilities for a National Garden Railway Convention using Galleria and surrounding hotels. The ad hoc committee to investigate the possibility of hosting a NGRC have decided this is too expensive and plans to host a convention have been dropped for now.
Thanks to Barry and Brenda for hosting and to RJ Deberg for the photos.
Ham, chicken, all the side dishes everyone brought, a short business meeting, and it's time to exchange presents!
Ann Deberg holds up the passenger car she got in the gift exchange.
The most popular, and most often stolen, presents are often those built by our members. This metal building was scratch-built by Charlie Tidd.
Brenda Reade had a nice cabin built by Ted Yarbrough for a little while. It seems like every present Brenda picked was stolen!
Jane Nute picked a James Robinson building. It was also quickly stolen.
Don Nute was luckier hanging onto this tunnel portal. Would the builder please contact the Webmaster?
Here's Leslie Bundy holding an outhouse built by James Robinson.
James Robinson stole this logging camp cabin built by Don Nute.
